Best Voice of Customer Software in 2026: 7 Tools, Two Very Different Jobs
Voice of customer software means a survey suite to one team and a feedback-analytics engine to another. We compared seven, with live pricing, and sorted them by the job they actually do: measuring sentiment across thousands of customers, or capturing what one customer actually said.

The short answer: StoryVoice is the voice of customer tool for teams that need one customer's actual words, captured in a five-minute AI voice interview and written up as proof a buyer can read. The other six tools below measure sentiment across thousands of customers, and none of them produces a sentence.
Why the phrase returns two different products
Type it into Google and the first page is dashboards. Qualtrics and Medallia run surveys and score contact-centre calls. Enterpret and Unwrap read the support tickets and reviews you already have and sort them into themes. Canny collects feature requests and votes. Dovetail files interview recordings and summarises them. Every one of those is sold as voice of the customer, and every one of them stores the voice as a score, a tag or a theme.
That is the right product if the job is tracking how ten thousand accounts feel this quarter. It is the wrong shape entirely if the job is a case study, a sales deck, a reference quote or a launch post, because a theme cluster cannot be quoted and a sentiment score cannot be put in front of a prospect. Capturing the voice literally is a different job, and it needs a different tool.
This comparison sorts the seven tools people actually shortlist by the job each one does, with pricing read from every vendor's public page on 6 September 2026 and the minimum you can pay to start.
What we compared it on
- ●Input. Does the tool go and get the customer's words, or analyse words you already have?
- ●Output. A dashboard, a theme report, a feature board, or a written story?
- ●Verbatim. Does the customer's actual sentence survive, or is it converted to a score on the way in?
- ●Entry price. The lowest published price, or "request a demo" where there is none.
- ●Who it is built for. The team and the scale the vendor designs around.
Quick comparison: all seven at a glance
| Tool | What it captures | What you get out | Entry price | Customer's words survive? | Built for |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| StoryVoice | A 5-minute AI voice interview with one customer | Case study, pull quote, LinkedIn and X posts, sales email | $49/mo, first case study free | Yes, verbatim transcript and quote | Marketing and customer teams producing proof |
| Qualtrics | Surveys, chat, email, digital behaviour, contact-centre conversations | Experience dashboards and scores | Request a demo, no public price | Open-text fields only, scored | Enterprise CX programmes |
| Medallia | Surveys, digital, contact centre, social, video research | CX management and orchestration | Request a demo, no public price | Open-text fields only, scored | Enterprise CX programmes |
| Enterpret | Support tickets, sales calls, surveys, reviews, social, CRM, product usage | Themed feedback intelligence | Book a demo, no public price | As themes with evidence snippets | Product and CX teams at scale |
| Unwrap | Support tickets, app reviews, surveys and other feedback channels | Customer intelligence reports and alerts | From $24,000/year | As themes with evidence snippets | Product, support and insight teams |
| Canny | Feature requests, votes and comments on a board | A prioritised request board | Free; Pro $79/mo billed yearly | Yes, as posts on the board | Product teams managing requests |
| Dovetail | Call recordings, documents and surveys you upload | Structured research summaries | Free (1 project); Enterprise custom | Yes, inside the repository | UX research teams |
1. StoryVoice: the interview is the product
In one sentence. StoryVoice runs the voice of customer conversation itself, a five-minute AI voice interview, and writes the case study, quote and social posts from what the customer actually said.
How it works. You send one customer a link. They talk to the AI interviewer for about five minutes, on their own time, with nothing to install. The transcript stays close to verbatim; the case study, pull quote, LinkedIn post, X post and sales email are generated from it, and the customer approves the finished story by link, with no account to create. Every metric card carries the passage of the recording it came from, so a number can be traced back to the sentence behind it.
Pricing. $49/mo Starter, $99/mo Growth, $249/mo Agency, or $35, $69 and $175/mo on annual billing. The first case study is free with no credit card.
What it does.
- ●Asks follow-up questions based on the previous answer, the way a journalist would, rather than reading a script
- ●Computes the headline result from the before-and-after the customer stated, and leaves the metric out when they did not give one
- ●Produces the written story plus four repurposed assets in the same run
- ●Customer sign-off by link, and white-label output on paid plans
What's missing.
- ●No sentiment tracking across a customer base; it is one conversation at a time
- ●No survey engine, no NPS, no dashboards
- ●Output is text; there is no video
Best for: any team whose next deliverable is a case study, a reference quote, a launch post or a sales email, and whose bottleneck is getting a customer to sit down and talk.
Skip if: you need weekly sentiment across thousands of accounts. That is a survey job.
2. Qualtrics: the survey suite
In one sentence. Qualtrics' customer experience product captures feedback through surveys, chat, email, digital behaviour and contact-centre conversations, and turns it into experience dashboards.
How it works. Programmes are built around triggered surveys and always-on listening across channels; the platform scores the responses and reports them by segment, journey stage and driver. The product page describes monitoring every call, email and chat in the contact centre.
Pricing. Not published. The route in is "Request demo".
What it does.
- ●Multi-channel feedback capture at enterprise scale
- ●Text analytics on open-ended responses
- ●Journey and driver analysis with dashboards built for executive reporting
What's missing.
- ●Nothing here interviews a customer; the input is a form or a monitored conversation
- ●The customer's sentence is scored, tagged and aggregated; it does not come out the other end as a quote you can publish
- ●No public price, so the cost of finding out is a sales cycle
Best for: enterprise CX teams running a programme across many thousands of customers.
Skip if: you have fewer than a few hundred customers, or the deliverable is a story rather than a score.
3. Medallia: experience management and orchestration
In one sentence. Medallia's platform captures signals from surveys, digital touchpoints, contact-centre interactions, social media and video research, and manages the response to them.
How it works. Signals flow in from every channel the organisation operates, are analysed, and are routed to the people who should act on them. The product is positioned as end-to-end experience management rather than a survey tool alone.
Pricing. Not published. "Request a demo".
What it does.
- ●Signal capture including contact centre and social
- ●Video research as one input type
- ●Action routing and closed-loop follow-up inside the platform
What's missing.
- ●The same shape as Qualtrics: the words become signals, the signals become scores
- ●Built for enterprise programmes; the sales motion and the price are sized to match
- ●Nothing produces a written customer story
Best for: large organisations orchestrating experience across many teams and channels.
Skip if: you are a marketing team that needs proof, not a CX operations team that needs routing.
Skip the writing entirely. StoryVoice interviews your customer with voice AI for 5 minutes, then writes the publish-ready case study for you — real quotes, hard metrics, and all.
4. Enterpret: feedback intelligence from what you already have
In one sentence. Enterpret unifies support tickets, sales calls, surveys, reviews, social conversations, community discussions, CRM data and product usage signals, and structures them into themes ranked by business impact.
How it works. Connect the sources, and the platform classifies incoming feedback into a taxonomy it learns for your product, then reports which themes are growing, which segments raise them, and what the evidence behind each theme is. Customers named on its site include Canva, Notion and Atlassian.
Pricing. Not published. "Book a demo".
What it does.
- ●Reads feedback at a volume no team could read by hand
- ●Keeps evidence snippets attached to each theme
- ●Prioritises by impact rather than by count alone
What's missing.
- ●It analyses feedback that exists; it does not go and ask a customer anything
- ●A theme is not a quote, and a snippet from a support ticket is not a story a customer has agreed to put their name on
- ●Enterprise pricing and onboarding
Best for: product and CX teams at companies with a high volume of inbound feedback.
Skip if: your feedback volume is small, or what you need is one customer's approved account of a result.
5. Unwrap: customer intelligence with a published floor
In one sentence. Unwrap ingests feedback from support tickets, app reviews, surveys and other channels, and turns it into themed reports and alerts, with plans starting at $24,000 a year.
How it works. The same shape as Enterpret: connect the channels, let the platform classify and cluster, read the reports. Pricing depends on monthly feedback volume and integrations, with no per-seat charge, and the pricing page offers a 30-day trial.
Pricing. Flexible plans from $24,000/year; custom beyond that.
What it does.
- ●Multi-channel ingestion with real-time alerts
- ●User segmentation, PII removal and multilingual support
- ●SSO, API access and compliance features listed on the pricing page
What's missing.
- ●The same analyse-not-capture limit as Enterpret
- ●The entry price puts it outside most small and mid-size teams
- ●No written, approved customer story comes out of it
Best for: support, insight and product teams with enough feedback volume to justify the floor.
Skip if: $24,000 a year is more than your whole proof budget.
6. Canny: a feedback board, not a voice
In one sentence. Canny collects feature requests, votes and comments on a board, and uses AI to deduplicate and summarise them.
How it works. Customers post requests or vote on existing ones. Canny's Autopilot finds feedback in connected tools, merges duplicates, summarises comment threads and drafts replies. Pricing is based on tracked users, meaning anyone who posts, votes or comments.
Pricing. Free (25 tracked users, 5 managers, unlimited boards); Pro $79/mo billed yearly (100+ tracked users, 10 managers, integrations, automation rules); Business custom (5,000+ tracked users, SSO, CRM integrations, branding removal).
What it does.
- ●Public or private request boards with voting
- ●Automatic feedback discovery and deduplication
- ●Roadmap and changelog tied to the requests
What's missing.
- ●It captures what customers want next, not what changed for them; there is no result, no before-and-after, no proof
- ●A vote is the least verbatim form of customer voice there is
- ●Nothing to publish outside the product loop
Best for: product teams managing a queue of requests.
Skip if: the question is "what did this customer get from us", not "what do customers want next".
7. Dovetail: the research repository
In one sentence. Dovetail stores call recordings, documents and surveys and uses AI to summarise them into structured research.
How it works. Upload or connect the material, tag and search it, and generate summaries. The free tier covers one channel and one project with unlimited users; Enterprise adds unlimited channels, advanced AI, redaction, audit logs and SSO.
Pricing. Free ($0, 1 channel, 1 project); Enterprise custom.
What it does.
- ●Keeps the recording and the transcript together, so the verbatim survives
- ●Semantic search across everything you have collected
- ●Structured summaries with security controls on the enterprise tier
What's missing.
- ●You bring the recordings; it does not run the conversation
- ●Output is research synthesis for an internal audience, not proof a customer has approved for publication
- ●The jump from free to Enterprise skips the middle entirely
Best for: UX research teams who already run interviews and need somewhere to keep them.
Skip if: the interview itself is the part you cannot get done.
When to pick which
- ●Tracking sentiment across thousands of accounts every quarter? Qualtrics or Medallia. That is what a survey suite is for.
- ●Drowning in support tickets and reviews nobody can read? Enterpret or Unwrap, budget permitting.
- ●Managing a queue of feature requests? Canny.
- ●Already running research interviews and need a home for them? Dovetail.
- ●Need one customer's actual words as a case study, quote, post or sales email? StoryVoice. The interview is the product, and the output is publishable.
What this category gets wrong
1. "Voice" is doing marketing work. Six of the seven tools here convert the customer's sentence into a score, a tag or a theme within seconds of receiving it. The voice is the input; the output is a chart. That is a reasonable product, but it is not what a marketer, a seller or a founder means when they say they need the voice of the customer.
2. Buyers want the person, not the score. TrustRadius surveyed 2,164 B2B buyers in 2024 and found 56% spoke to an actual product user before purchasing, while only 27% used a vendor-provided reference. The demand is for a human account, and the six types of customer proof that move a deal are all built from one.
3. The cheapest input is a conversation. Four of the seven tools publish no price at all, and one starts at $24,000 a year. A five-minute recorded conversation with one customer costs almost nothing to capture and produces the one asset none of the dashboards can: a sentence with a name on it. The questions that get a usable answer are the same whether a person or an AI asks them.
The honest verdict
If you are here because someone said "we need to hear the voice of the customer" and every tool you found starts with a survey, the question is not which dashboard to buy. It is whether the deliverable is a score or a sentence.
For a score, buy the suite that fits your scale. For a sentence, start a free interview and read what your customer actually said. It takes them five minutes, and the story is written before the survey suite has finished its sales cycle.
Pricing and plan details were read from each vendor's public pricing or product pages on 2026-09-06; where a vendor publishes no price, we say so rather than estimate. G2 review data was read the same day where a listing could be found (Canny: 4.5/5, 108 reviews). TrustRadius figures are from its 2024 B2B Buying Disconnect report (2,164 buyers). Verify current numbers with each vendor before purchase. Last updated 2026-09-07.
Frequently asked questions
What is voice of customer software?
Voice of customer software collects what customers say about a product and turns it into something a team can act on. In practice that covers two different products: survey and experience suites that score sentiment across a whole customer base, and tools that capture one customer's actual words. StoryVoice is the second kind: a five-minute AI voice interview that produces a case study, a quote and social posts in the customer's own language.
What is the best voice of customer software for a small B2B team?
For a team that needs proof it can publish, StoryVoice: it runs the interview itself, keeps the customer's words verbatim, and costs $49 a month with the first case study free. Enterprise suites such as Qualtrics and Medallia publish no price and are sized for programmes across thousands of accounts. Canny's free tier is the cheapest route into a feature-request board, which is a different job.
Do Qualtrics or Medallia publish pricing?
No. On 6 September 2026 both routes in were a request-a-demo form with no public price. Enterpret is the same. Unwrap is the only enterprise feedback-analytics tool in this comparison with a published floor, at $24,000 a year. StoryVoice publishes all three tiers, $49, $99 and $249 a month.
What is the difference between voice of customer software and survey software?
A survey tool sends questions and collects scored answers. Voice of customer software is the broader label vendors use for anything that reads customer feedback, including survey suites, feedback-analytics engines that classify support tickets and reviews, and interview tools. The test that matters is whether the customer's sentence survives the process or is converted into a score on the way in. StoryVoice keeps the sentence; the survey suites keep the score.
Can voice of customer software write a case study?
StoryVoice does: the interview transcript becomes a written case study with a headline result computed from the before-and-after the customer stated, plus a pull quote, a LinkedIn post, an X post and a sales email, and the customer approves it by link. None of the other six tools in this comparison produces a written customer story; their output is dashboards, theme reports or a request board.
How much does Unwrap cost?
Unwrap's pricing page lists flexible plans starting at $24,000 a year, priced on monthly feedback volume and integrations rather than seats, with a 30-day trial. That floor puts it in the enterprise bracket alongside Enterpret, Qualtrics and Medallia, none of which publish a price at all.
Is Canny a voice of customer tool?
Canny is a feedback board: customers post feature requests, vote and comment, and its Autopilot feature finds and deduplicates requests from connected tools. It captures what customers want next, not what changed for them, so it is a voice of customer tool for product prioritisation and not for proof. It is free for 25 tracked users and $79 a month billed yearly on Pro.
How do I capture voice of customer without an enterprise platform?
Record a conversation with one customer and keep what they said. StoryVoice runs that conversation as a five-minute AI voice interview from a link, so no scheduling and no app, and writes the story from the transcript. If you would rather run it yourself first, the interview questions StoryVoice uses are published free, and pasting an old call transcript into the free case study generator shows you what the material supports.
